The best of a pretty good bunch:
Cassels Milk Stout from Christchurch. Hard to go past this as a standout winner for the year. Even better from the source.
This hazy IPA was ridiculously easy to drink. Best enjoyed with sun, friends, and barbeque.
A trip to Melbourne brought with it the realisation that the Australians do have beers other than VB and Foster’s, and they’re really quite good. This one in particular was seriously drinkable.
Runners-up:
Not new, but still a favourite.
A strong contender for best of the year.
A crazy-good milk stout from Christchurch.
Controversial, but I’m open to the challenge of having my mind changed on this one.
Another Australian. This one really was pretty good.
A solid accompaniment to yardwork in the Summer, if it’s still available somewhere.
Another Emerson’s in the #1 spot.

Another year of assorted beers, rated by type (with very little in the way of formal knowledge about these things). A Christmas advent calendar of beers, I guess.
First up, pilsners. The Sawmill came a close second but I’d still go back to Emerson’s as #1 overall. Anchor was unbeatable in the Malaysian heat. Wolters was at the back of the pack.
